Union General de Trabadores and ex staffs of the Nigeria embassy in Spain staged mild protest...

The sacked staffs of the Nigerian Embassy in Spain and the representatives of the biggest labour union in Spain, Union General de Trabajadores staged a mild protest in front of the Nigeria embassy this morning to demand the payments of the entitlements of the displeased sacked staff.

While the protest was going on, the charge d'affair in person of Mrs Beatrice Danladi received the representatives of the union and of the sacked staffs who expressed the motives of their protest.

This protest they claimed came up after an early letter written to the Ambassador to pay their money or it may result to protest was slighted. They also told her of their line up of actions which will take place inside the Spanish parliament if they refuses to pay .

She however promised to pass the message to the Ambassador who was said to be in Nigeria.

It could be recalled that earlier this month, clevenard TV in diaspora hosted the said group of sacked employee of the Embassy in an interview. In the interview, the ex staffs represented by PST Lanre, Mr. Joseph, Mr. Edward and Mrs Katherine enjoined the embassy and Amb. Ademola Seriki to pay them their dues while citing some irregularities in the termination of their appointments. They lamented the fact that they were laid off unceremoniously after dedicating quite a number of years to their duties.

They also claimed that though being sacked since February without prior notice or due process, the Amb. has refused to pay them what is due them and threatened to take up the matter with the Spanish authority because of the protection of the Spanish labour law.

All efforts to reach Amb. Ademola seriki has proven abortive as calls to his mobile are not received..
