How can Nigeria possibly offer real assistance to South Sudan when Nigeria is nearly in the same boat as South Sudan? It would merely be a case of the blind leading the blind. Just to digress a little bit. On a scale of one to ten, in which one is best governed, and ten is worst governed, if South Sudan is a ten, Nigeria is a nine. Some may argue a high nine. Except for a cycle here or there, this has been Nigeria's lot since independence. Crime and violence, widescale poverty, hopelessness, helplessness, have been permanent fixtures on the Nigerian landscape. Will things get better? The evidence suggests otherwise.
