Black Unconsciousness: Reckless Hope

Black consciousness was once words black communities were proud to preach. Maybe the problem was that is was only used for political purposes or a way to get our community to vote against the old regime. In time black consciousness faded, as now we are moving towards enriching ourselves at all cost. Some say that our black community is now more unconscious. I don't know, you are a judge in your own right. What do you think? Based on the recent story of a woman who recorded herself forcing her son into a sexual intercourse, one starts to wonder if as a people we are conscious at all.

As soon as I enquired more about the lady who slept with her own child I started asking more questions as I heard more about these disturbing actions. Allegedly the lady was scammed. She met man who promised her heaven on earth. This man told her that she will find help for all her personal dilemmas if she engaged in a sexual intercourse with her son, she was told that if she recorded a video of herself in action with her son then send it to this man, the man would pray for the video and she would get healed and all her problems would suddenly dissolve into thin air. She somehow believed this was possible.... That's where my concern is.

Do you remember the pastors who made people eat grass and they did? Remember that pastor who used to spray pest control sprays on people's faces and they'd respond with cheer and excitement for what God is yet to do in their lives instead of concern?

One would wonder if we are conscious at all? Do you know people who lost hundreds of thousands and millions giving to those who can make them RICHER in a blink of an eye while it took years to accumulate what they already have? All we need is to be more mindful as a people. I believe that as a plant takes long to grow, so is money. A stronger plant takes longer to develop
/grow. A smaller plant takes a shorter time to mature but it takes time. To receive the monies we have it took time, work, process, consistency but some of us queue for hours to gamble waiting for luck to fall in abundance. Well nowadays it does even take long, it is quick to gamble your Riches away, technology has made its mark. Maybe there is nothing wrong with luck, the challenge is our main focus to succeed being just luck and waiting for someone to come and tell us how to invest, what to do with the little you have. Not everyone has best our best interests at heart.

My mother normally says "when you seek counsel from other person, take your brain with". Not to say that people leave their brains elsewhere but she means that we should think twice before agreeing to other people's suggestions, some could could harm you. I never thought deeply about my mother's words until this incident, maybe because of the value I put on kids. Do you see this pattern though in our African communities where people come from far and near to come take advantage of us? Somehow we fall prey to those. What is missing in us? Financial wisdom? Inability to trust ourselves to make fortunes for ourselves? Too dependent on luck that we doubt our efforts? Lack of Self confidence?
Do we believe in ourselves? Do we believe more on others? I say whatever it is, let's be conscious of our challenges and work on them for our sakes and children's sake instead of trusting everyone else with own future and legacies. Actively confront your problems, resolve, reflect, resolve, challenge them back. Believe that you can conquer and you will.
